The Pioneer tennis teams each earned victories against the
Pacific Boxers on Friday night. The women won 7-2 (results) and the men
shut out their opponents 9-0.
Amalia Nilsson, Lisa Harunaga, WhitneyDebree, Maggie Peach and
Teresa Kiemnec all earned two set victories Pioneers. Nilsson &
DeBree and Harunaga & Peach were also part of doubles victory
matches.
With the win, the women improve to 3-2 overall (3-0 NWC) and the
men improve to 1-3 over all (1-3 NWC).
For the men, they earned their first Conference win of the
season with a 9-0 (results) sweep
over the Pacific Boxers at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center. The
Pioneers opened the afternoon by sweeping through the doubles
matches. In the singles, Pacific's Michael Okada and L&C's
George Allen engaged in a close, well-played match in the No. 1
flight. Okada pushed Allen to the limit in the first set, but Allen
maintained composure to pick up the 7-5, 6-4 victory.
The Pioneers next compete against George Fox on Saturday
February 23rd. The women host the Bruins in the Tennis Dome at 11
while the men take on the Bruins on the road. Check back for
