The Puget Sound Loggers swept the Pioneers in the final dual
meet of the season, with the men falling 101-76 and the women
bowing 113-86 (results).
Swimming against a strong Puget Sound team--many of whom swam
exhibition races--the Pioneer women had several strong times.
Lindsay Nixon (junior, Chino Hills, CA) placed first in both the
400IM and 100fly. Koy Collier (junior, Wailuku, HI) added a top
time in the 100 free.
For the men, Justin Lawton (senior, Tokyo, Japan) and Sam Palmer
(sophomore, Salt Lake City, UT) took the top two times respectively
in the 50 free. Lawton also placed first in the 100 free. Matt
Lormand (sophomore, Wheat Ridge, CO) swam uncontested in the 800
free.
The Loggers are known for being one of the strongest teams in
the conference--the women have won the Northwest Conference
Championship for the past ten years and the men have won three
championships in the past ten years, while placing second or third
the other seven years.
The Pioneers next compete at the Northwest Conference
Championships, which start at 10AM on February 8th in Federal Way,
Washington. Check back for scores and updates.
