The Pioneer swim teams split wins in a dual meet against the
Linfield Wildcats with the women capturing a win, with a score of
156-47, while the men suffered a loss, with a score of
136-45. (Results)
The Lewis and Clark women would hold control over Linfield
througout the entire meet as they posted the top time in each of
the eleven events in which they competed. Both Lindsay Nixon
(junior, Chino Hills, CA) and Koy Collier (junior, Wailuku, HI)
captured two wins for the Pioneers. First-year Pioneer swimmer
Claire Jordan (freshman, Edmonds, WA) showed her strength in the
distance events winning the 1000 free by over a minute and
capturing the 500 free as well. The Wildcat women captured top
three spots in nine out of eleven events. Rose Hollingsworth
contributed to three of those spots with second place in the 400
medley relay, 200 backstroke and a third place in the 200 free.
Felicia Weller also contributed two top three finishes, as one leg
of the 400 medley relay and capturing second place in the 200 fly.
With a significantly larger men's team than the Pioneers, the
Linfield men captured wins in nine of eleven events. Kevin
Caple and Josh Parfitt all contributed to four of the nine
wins. Caple held the top spot in the 200 individual medley and the
200 backstroke while Parfitt posted wins in both the 200 and 500
free events. The Pioneer men held top three spots in five events.
First-year Matt Yellin helped the Pioneers post 24 of their 45
points on the evening as a member of the second place 400 medley
relay and 400 free relay teams and the top scorer in the 200
breaststroke.
The Pioneers next swim in a dual meet against Whitworth at home
in the Zehntbauer Swim Pavillion on Friday November 16th at 6pm.
