Britt Eckerstrom joins the Lewis & Clark coaching staff for her first season in the fall of 2022.
Eckerstrom will work with the Pioneers goalies after putting together a tremendous career between the posts.Â
As a collegiate player, Eckerstrom captained Penn State University to the Division I NCAA National Title in 2015. She did not allow a goal throughout the Nittany Lions entire run to the NCAA Tournament and finished the 2015 season with eight-straight shutouts. Over her career at Penn State, she led Penn State to four Big Ten Conference Championships (2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015), earned Academic All-Big Ten and Dean's List honors every year (2011-15) and earned the Ernest B McCoy Award from the Big Ten in 2016.Â
After graduating, she was drafted by the Western New York Flash of the National Women's Soccer League in 2016. Eckerstrom won the NWSL National Championship in 2016 with the Flash and again in 2017 as a member of the Portland Thorns. She was loaned to the Newcastle Jets in Australia for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons and played every minutes for the Jets in her second season. Upon returning to the Thorns, Eckerstrom became a regular starter and finished her Portland career with seven shutouts in 26 starts.Â
During her time in Portland, Eckerstrom trained under Nadine Angerer. The German international goalie won two FIFA World Cup (2003 and 2007), earned the 2013 FIFA Player of the Year and led Germany to five European Championships. Eckerstrom worked under and learned from Angerer for her entire time with the Thorns.Â
