Mark Swenson rejoined the Lewis & Clark men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach for the 2025-26 season. He previously spent 30 years with the Pioneers (1990-91 to 2019-20) before serving three seasons on Shanan Rosenberg’s staff at Linfield University. In 2023-24, he was the interim head boys basketball coach at Lake Oswego High School.

Swenson is a four-time Lewis & Clark Athletics Hall of Fame honoree, earning three inductions as an assistant coach with championship teams and one for Meritorious Service. He coached six players who went on to Hall of Fame careers and was part of Pioneer teams that reached the NAIA Final Four, multiple NCAA/NAIA Elite Eights and several NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearances.

Before joining Lewis & Clark, Swenson coached at Bellevue High School in Washington from 1980-84. Away from the court, he spent 27 years as a vice president with Bon Appétit Management Company and five years as CEO of Columbia Plateau Producers, a cooperative of 38 farming families who supply wheat for Shepherd’s Grain flour. He retired in 2022 and has lived in Lake Oswego for the past 35 years.
