Hut Calhoun is entering his second season as an assistant coach at Lewis & Clark in the fall of 2023. Calhoun will be working with the team’s defensive linemen.
He joins the Pioneers coaching staff after an impressive high school coaching career that has spanned 38 seasons in Oregon. Throughout his career, Calhoun has dedicated his time to defense and special teams, while also serving a stint as the head coach at Lutheran High School.
In 2017, Calhoun worked with current Lewis & Clark head coach Joe Bushman to lead Clackamas High School to their first-ever State Championship. That season, he worked as the defensive line and special teams coach for the 6A State Champs.
Calhoun guided West Linn High School to the state semifinals six times during his time with the Lions. He also has worked as the defensive coordinator at Wilsonville, Rex Putnam and Sandy High School.
He played his collegiate football at Diivison III Concordia University Chicago in River Forest, Illinois. During his time with the Cougars, he was a four-year starter as a defensive lineman and was named a captain during his senior season. Calhoun also competed on the wrestling and track & field teams at Concordia. He led the wrestling team to a conference title and won a conference championship in javelin.
Calhoun earned his master’s in Industrial Education at Oregon State University.
