Your investment makes a difference
Successful athletics programs promote pride while increasing
visibility for the College and our community. Not only do your
gifts to Pioneer Athletics create life changing opportunities for
our student-athletes, they support the mission of Lewis & Clark
College and promote excellence in Athletics.
Where Will My Contributions Go?
All gifts to Athletics are used to support our teams and
programs. Special needs vary from year to year, but the primary
areas supported by Pioneer Athletics Club include:
Enhance funds for the recruitment of quality student-athletes
Offset annual operating expenses for each teamProvide building
enhancements to Pamplin Sports Center and other sports
facilitiesCreate opportunities to celebrate the accomplishments of
our student-athletesSubsidize special team travel not covered by
the sport's budget
Can I Support A Specific Program?
Yes! While unrestricted gifts provide the most flexibility in
supporting special needs and projects, restricted gifts directly
benefit the designated
team or program. Any amount can be designated and restricted
to a specific team(s).
Pioneer
Athletics Club
The Pioneer Athletics Club (PAC) is a critical component for our
annual operating budget. Funds are used to assist with
department-wide needs, including enhance funds for the recruitment
of quality student-athletes, building enhancements to Pamplin
Sports Center and other sports facilities, offsetting of annual
operating expenses and countless other amenities for our
student-athletes have been made possible thanks to your
contributions.
Sport Development Funds
Any gift may be designated to a specific team or program to be
used to support the specific needs of the individual program. These
"restricted" gifts will be used only for the designated team or
program and used for the greatest need designated by the head
coach.
Endowments
Endowments are a generous source of permanent income for Pioneer
Athletics. The money gifted to an endowment is invested, with a
percentage of the income growth supporting a specific purpose as
directed by the donor(s). The remaining income is reinvested into
the endowment, ensuring that the value of the investment grows
forever.
Current endowments include:
Internships
Student-Life internships within the athletic department enable
you to directly support current Lewis & Clark students who have
an interest in pursuing a career in Sports Medicine, Sports
Information/Broadcast, Athletic Development and/or Sports
Administration.
Methods of Giving
Cash Gifts
The simplest and most popular way to support Pioneer Athletics
is by writing a check. Your gift may designate support for a
specific team or program or it may be unrestricted, which allows
the Athletics Department to direct it to an area of great need.
Special
Gifts
In kind gifts of goods or services may be appropriate for
Athletic Department or team use. Gifts of this nature often reduce
operating budget expenditures and conserve athletics department
resources. For questions about in-kind needs, contact Clark Yeager,
Director of Athletics at 503-768-7548.
Planned
Gifts
A planned gift is one designed to benefit you and Lewis &
Clark in the future. It may be in the form of a bequest in your
will or living trust, a planned gift that provides either life
income or life use from your asset or charitable annuities which
offers fixed income payments for life.
Thoughtfully planned, any gift to L&C Athletics may provide
important personal benefits while providing a future gift to the
College. We encourage you to contact Sharon Bosserman-Benson at
503-768-7911 with your questions.
