PORTLAND, Ore. — Lewis & Clark College volleyball capped the 2025 Lewis & Clark Invitational with two matches on Saturday at Pamplin Sports Center, trading sets with Macalester College in the afternoon before the Scots pulled away in the decisive fifth and later dropped a three-set contest to Colorado College in the nightcap.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Junior
Kaitlyn Jensen turned in a career day, finishing with personal bests of 18 kills and three blocks, along with 14 digs, against Macalester. She ended the night with 24 kills while hitting .266 across both matches.
Christi San Diego and
Isabel Meleán-Williams each chipped in 11 kills on the day. San Diego set new career highs with nine kills on a .444 hitting percentage and added seven blocks against the Scots. Meleán-Williams also recorded career bests, serving three aces and posting four blocks in the same match.
Senior libero
Reilyn Sabado anchored the defense with 17 digs across the two matches, including 11 against Macalester.
First-year
Ariah Potts tied Sabado with a career-high 11 digs in the opener and totaled 14 on the day. She also added a collegiate best two assists.
Setters
Ruby Kuerschner and
Kenzie Edwards ran the offense. Kuerschner collected her 17th career double-double with 16 assists and 10 digs, while also knocking down a career-best seven kills. Edwards matched her career high with 16 assists against Macalester and served up six aces, the most by any Northwest Conference player in a single match this fall.
MATCH ONE
The afternoon tilt with Macalester was marked by long rallies and constant swings in momentum, featuring 24 ties and 14 lead changes.
Lewis & Clark held a 22-21 lead in the opening set after a kill by Meleán-Williams, but the Scots closed with four straight points to win 25-22.
The Pioneers responded in the second. After falling behind 18-16, sophomore
Daphne Ibrao sparked the team with one of her career-high four kills, off a feed from junior middle blocker
HB Schuett to side out. Edwards then delivered three straight aces to push Lewis & Clark back in front and become the first team to reach the 20-point threshold for the second consecutive set. Coming out of a Macalester timeout, the Scots tied the set at 20-all, but Jensen's late kill sealed the set, tying the match at 1-1.
Macalester surged in the third set and took the largest lead by either team when they jumped ahead for a 10-point cushion at 23-13. Lewis & Clark tried to rally, but their four-point run at set point was cut short on a kill by Sydney Stratton.
Lewis & Clark answered again in the fourth, erasing a 10-4 deficit to tie the set twice. Edwards served up another ace to give the Pioneers an 18-16 lead, and they held on to force a decisive fifth.
The Scots grabbed control early in the final set with a 6-2 run and sealed the match with back-to-back blocks for a 15-8 win.
MATCH TWO
In the finale, Colorado College hit .380 as a team and used a balanced attack to sweep the Pioneers.
Jensen paced Lewis & Clark with six kills, while Schuett added four. Kuerschner and Edwards combined for 12 assists, and Sabado tallied six digs. San Diego and Kuerschner each recorded a block assist.
The Tigers hit .440 in the opening set and never trailed on the way to a 25-15, 25-15, 25-13 victory.

- Edwards' six aces against Macalester are tied for the most in a single match in the Northwest Conference this season. She leads the league with 17 aces and a 0.77 per-match average.
- The Pioneers' 12 team aces in the Macalester match are tied for the second most by an NWC team this fall.
- Jensen's 18 kills are tied for the second most in a match by an NWC player. She ranks third in the league with 70.5 total points entering conference play.
- San Diego's seven total blocks against Macalester are the most in a single NWC match this season. She ranks second overall with 20 blocks.
