HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pioneers outshot the Knights 12-5, forcing Warner Pacific goalkeeper Kate Pomerinke into 12 saves, but were unable to break through in their final tune-up before Northwest Conference play.
Lewis & Clark dictated much of the match, generating steady offensive pressure from the opening whistle. Junior
Mischa Vanek forced Pomerinke into action less than four minutes in with the first of her three shots.
The Pioneers continued to press, earning four first-half corner kicks and recording six shots. Sophomore
Ava Lazzara nearly broke the deadlock in the eighth minute, followed by junior
Grace Smith's attempt at putting the visitors on the board 25 seconds later.
Warner Pacific's best chance of the opening half came in the 20th minute when Litzy Gonzalez tested senior keeper
Anna Ingadottir with a shot, but the veteran read it cleanly.
In the second half, Lewis & Clark again controlled possession and tempo. Junior
Iris Stutzman put an early attempt on goal in the 48th minute, only to be denied by Pomerinke.
Despite holding an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks and maintaining offensive pressure until the final whistle, the Pioneers could not solve the Warner Pacific defense. Ingadottir preserved the clean sheet with three saves in a 16-minute span midway through the half.
