PORTLAND, Ore.—Lewis & Clark used a dominant pitching performance in game one and a thrilling comeback in game two, to earn a sweep of visiting George Fox University on Senior Day.Â

The Pioneers tied the program record for wins and conference wins in a single-season in game one, and broke both program marks in game two, as they celebrated the team's six senior members.Â

Sam Gildersleeve,

Mia Lopez before the team's final two homes games of the 2025 regular-season.Â

Alvarez had a monster final doubleheader at the Huston Sports Complex. She finished the day 6-6 with two runs, three RBI and a walk. Her go-ahead RBI double in the bottom of the sixth in game two, tied her with Hanna Dal Pra (2013-16) for the program record with 39 career doubles.Â

GAME ONE RECAPÂ

Junior
Maggie O'Leary held the Bruins to just three hits and one run and Lewis & Clark scored four runs with two outs - to tie the program record for wins in a single-season.Â
Â
O'Leary set the program record for wins in a single-season (17) by striking out five in a complete-game win. She scattered two singles, a double and two hit by pitches, to improve to 17-6.Â
Â
Alvarez led the offense with three hits in three at-bats and an RBI. Sophomore Harper Campenalla finished 2-3 with a run scored and an RBI and junior
Emily Patton chipped in a two-run single.Â

After trailing for most of Friday's doubleheader, the Pioneers took their first lead in the bottom of the first. Senior
Katie Ingersoll was hit by a pitch with two outs and stole second.
Makena Dahir followed with a walk and Alvarez laced a single up the middle to plate Ingersoll.Â

The Pioneers tacked on a second run in the second. Campanella and Rosenbach started the rally with back-to-back one-out singles. With two down, Ozuna ripped a single through the circle to score pinch-runner
Lola Jarrette.Â

George Fox scratched across their only run of the game in the third. Sydney Sandifer led off with a hit by a pitch. She took second on a ground out, third on a wild pitch and came in to score on a two-out RBI single from Sharon Tomei.Â

Lewis & Clark would have an immediate answer in the bottom half of the inning. Dahir led off the frame with a walk and moved to third on an Alvarez single down the left-field line. Gildersleeve was hit by a pitch to load the bases and Campanella singled through the right side to make it 3-1. George Fox went to the bullpen and Patton came through with a two-run single up the middle to score Gildersleeve and Campanella.Â

The Bruins would manage three baserunners over the final four frames. None of the baserunner would make it past first base, with Rosenbach throwing out Kiley Harris trying to steal second in the fourth.Â

GAME TWO RECAPÂ

George Fox rushed out to leads of 5-0 and 6-2, but Lewis & Clark scored 11 runs over their final three at-bats to finish their home schedule undefeated.Â

Alvarez keyed the Pioneers offense once again by going 3-3 with two runs, two RBI and the game-winning RBI double. Patton (two hits), Rosenbach (triple) and junior
Megan Yanagi (double) all finished with at least one hit, one run and two RBI.Â

Ozuna went 3-5 with a run scored and an RBI and Dahir (one run) and
Madison Scroggins each chipped in two hits and an RBI.Â

The Pioneers used three pitchers in the circle.
Ryan Jurischk pitched three innings in relief and allowed five hits and one run to keep the hosts in the game. O'Leary earned her second win of the day after scattering one hit, two walks and two runs (one earned) over three innings.Â
Â
After throwing nine scoreless innings on Friday, Bruins first year Nicole Ledendecker allowed seven runs (five earned) over four innings. Allison Heater took the loss after giving up six earned runs in 1.2 innings.Â

The Bruins scored five runs in the first inning, with Sandifer capping off the frame with a two-out grand slam.Â

Lewis & Clark chipped into the deficit with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first. Ozuna and Scroggins opened the inning with back-to-back singles. With one down, Dahir lined a single to left field to score Ozuna. Alvarez chipped in an RBI single up the middle to plate
Lacey Marglin to make it 5-2.Â

Jurischk would keep the Bruins lineup in check for the next two innings, before Tomei hit her league-leading 19
th home run to start the fourth.Â

With the Pioneers trailing 6-2, they scored four runs with two outs in the bottom of the inning. Alvarez started the frame with a single and Gildersleeve walked to put two on with one out. Yanagi came on to pinch hit and hit a high fly ball down the left-field line that Harris lost in the sun. The ball bounced off the left fielder allowing Jepsen and Gildersleeve to score to make it 6-4. Patton kept the inning going with a walk and Ozuna and Scroggins followed with RBI singles to even the score at 6-6.Â

Sandifer hit a one-out homer in the top of the fifth to give George Fox a 7-6 advantage.Â

Lewis & Clark took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the inning. Dahir and Alvarez worked back-to-back walks and moved up 60 feet on a wild pitch. Jarrette, who pinch ran, beat the throw home on Campanella's infield grounder to second to tie the game. Patton singled through the right side to plate Alvarez and make it 8-7.Â

The Bruins took advantage of a Pioneers error and two wild pitches to tie the game in the top of the sixth.Â

Lewis & Clark put the game away in the bottom of the inning. With two down and no one on, Dahir singled through the left side and Alvarez followed with a double into the left-field corner to give Lewis & Clark the lead for good. Gildersleeve was hit by a pitch and Campanella followed with a single to center to make it 10-8. Rosenbach put the game away with a two-run triple just inside the right-field line. Patton capped off the scoring with her third RBI single of the day to push the lead to 13-8.Â

BY THE NUMBERS
- Lewis & Clark broke the 2024 team's program record for wins (29) and conference wins (21) in a single-season. The Pioneers matched the 2024 team for their best-ever finish in NWC play (second overall).Â
- The Pioneers wrapped up their home schedule 16-0 and are riding a 17-game winning streak at the Huston Sports Complex. In two seasons on their new turf field, they are 26-8. Their 17-game home winning streak is the fourth-longest in all of NCAA DIII.Â
- Gildersleeve set the program record for runs scored in a single-season in game two (40). She broke Ozuna's mark of 38 runs scored during the 2024 season. Ozuna (39) also broke her own mark on Sunday and is one run behind Gildersleeve for the most in a single-season.Â
- O'Leary broke a tie with Trissa Chamberlin (1989) for the most wins (18) in a single-season in program history. O'Leary is just four strikeouts away from her second 100-strikeout season and the fourth in program history.Â
- The Pioneers comeback in game two is their first time coming back from five runs or more, since they erased a 5-0 deficit to Pacific Lutheran University in last year's Northwest Conference Tournament.Â
