TACOMA, Wash.—Lewis & Clark College women's tennis won five of six singles matches to earn a comeback 5-2 win over host University of Puget Sound on Saturday afternoon.Â

Kacie Lau each went 2-0 on Saturday to help the Pioneers get back to .500 (2-2) in conference action.Â

The host Loggers took a 1-0 lead after doubles thanks to wins at number one and number two doubles.Â

Lewis & Clark won the first of the three doubles matches to finish, as Lau and Kreps combined for a 6-2 win over Zoe Hughes and Krishna Agrawal at third doubles.Â

Lau dominated Hughes 6-2, 6-0 at number six singles to tie the score at 1-1.Â

Anna English gave Lewis & Clark the lead at fifth-flight singles. The first year defeated Buck 6-4, 6-2 to give the Pioneers a 2-1 advantage.Â

Senior
Lauren Smith-Euben extended the lead to 3-1 at fourth singles. Smith-Euben notched a 6-2, 7-5 over Chatham to give Lewis & Clark all the momentum.Â

Anand clinched the team win at first singles. She dispatched Yamada 6-0, 6-3 to make it 4-1 Lewis & Clark.

Kreps secured the Pioneers final win. The senior knocked off Agrawal 6-3, 6-4 to give Lewis & Clark a 5-1 lead.Â

The Loggers earned their lone singles win at number two singles. Shinall earned a tight 6-4, 7-6 win over Makoni to account for the final 5-2 score.Â

- Â English earned her first career Northwest Conference win (fifth singles) in her NWC debut.
- Â Kreps and Anand are both 3-1 in NWC singles matches this year. Kreps leads the team with her five overall conference victories.Â
- The Pioneers are 3-1 at number three doubles in NWC action. Lewis & Clark is 1-3 at number one doubles and 0-4 at number two doubles through their first four NWC matches.Â

The Pioneers will travel to Eastern Washington next weekend. The Pioneers will take on Whitworth University on Saturday at 10 a.m. and defending NWC Champions Whitman University on Sunday at 11 a.m. Both teams were picked to finish ahead of the Pioneers in the NWC Preseason Coaches' Poll – with Whitworth (fourth) sitting one spot ahead of Lewis & Clark.
