Ezra Billings won an event for the second-straight night and six Lewis & Clark College swimmers earned All-Conference honors on Day Three of the 2025 Northwest Conference Championship Meet.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Billings and senior
Micah Rysavy finished first and second in the 100 Fly to highlight a tremendous third day for Lewis & Clark. Junior
Zach Martin added a second-place showing in the 200 Free and the men's 200 Free Relay broke the program record to earn All-Conference honors.
On the women's side, sophomore
Angie Cummings earned her first career All-Conference plaudits and junior
Elise Barton recorded her second honors of the meet and of her career.
MEN'S RECAP
The 100 Fly was one of the big stories of the day for Lewis & Clark as Billings (#4) and Rysavy (#3) both came in seeded in the top-four. The duo opened the event with a bang on Saturday morning. Billings set his second individual program record of the meet with a time of 49.56 to finish second overall. Rysavy added a PR of his own as he placed fourth in qualifying with a PR time of 50.06.
Both swimmers broke the program record in the Finals to place first and second overall. Billings touched the wall in 49.25 to shave off 0.31 seconds off his PR time. Rysavy moved back into second-place all-time in the event with a blistering 49.55 to finish in second place – nearly 0.20 seconds ahead of third.
Martin was the third Pioneers men's swimmer to earn First Team All-Conference accolades on Saturday. The junior was seeded 11
th going into the 200 Free but posted a dominant time of 1:42.98 in the Prelims to qualify second overall. He came back less than 12 hours later and posted a PR time by 0.47 seconds to finish in second place. His time is the second-fastest in program history.
The Pioneers posted their fourth and final top-two finish on Saturday in the final race of the night. The quartet of Billings, first year
Sam LoCurto, Martin and Rysavy placed second overall in the 200 Free to earn All-Conference accolades. The group's time of 1:24.02 broke their own program record time by 1.24 seconds.
Lewis & Clark had swimmers qualify for B Finals in four of the five individual events.
In the 100 Fly, LoCurto and senior
Ian Holmberg joined Billings and Rysavy in the pool. LoCurto placed 12
th in the morning session with a PR time of 51.86. He shaved off an additional 0.15 seconds to finish 11
th in the B Final. His new PR time of 51.71 helped him move from ninth place in program history to sixth overall. Holmberg finished 21
st in prelims with a time of 55.32.
Senior
Aidan Ringel qualified for the B Final in the 200 Free. He placed 12 in the prelims with a time of 1:47.23. He notched a season-best mark of 1:46.47 to finish 11
th in the B Final.
Junior
Michael Spicer and senior
Isaac Anderson each advanced to the B Final in the 400 IM. Spicer swam the ninth-fastest time in the morning with a season-best mark of 4:19.07. Anderson added a huge PR time of 4:22.57 to finish 12
th overall. His time moved him into sixth place in program history in the event. In the evening, Spicer (4:16.85) edged Anderson (4:23.39) with the pair finishing 10
th and 14
th in the B Final. First year
Isaiah Frei took 23
rd place in prelims with a mark of 4:41.56.
Frei led a trio of Pioneers swimmers in the 100 Backstroke. He qualified for the B Final by placing 13
th overall (55.69). Frei moved into 10
th place in program history in the event after the Finals, as he swam a collegiate PR of 55.27 to finish 14
th in the night session. Holmberg took 21
st in the prelims with a time of 58.41. Sophomore
Aidan Beatty placed 26
th with a huge collegiate PR (1.86 seconds improvement) as he finished in 1:07.07.
In their final make-up race of the weekend, Lewis & Clark finished in seventh place in the 200 Medley Relay. The quartet of Holmberg, Anderson, Spicer and Billings combined for a time of 1:38.49.
WOMEN'S RECAP
Cummings and Barton each earned spots on the podium, three other Pioneers qualified for B Finals and both relay teams posted top-10 marks all-time.
Cummings earned her first collegiate All-Conference honors in the 100 Backstroke. The sophomore finished sixth in qualifying with a PR time of 1:00.09. She moved up from eighth place in program history to fourth, when she touched the wall in 59.71 in the night session. Her time put her in fifth place overall in the A Final.
Barton made it to the A Final in the 200 Free. A day after earning All-Conference honors in the 50 Free, Barton finished sixth in the 200 Free prelims with a huge PR. Her time of 1:58.72 was a 3.04 second improvement on her previous PR. She moved into the top-10 in program history in the night session. Her time of 1:58.05 helped her finish seventh overall and move into seventh in program history.
The Pioneers finished in sixth place in both relays on Saturday. In the morning session, Lewis & Clark made up the 200 Medley Relay. The team of Cummings, sophomore
Dahlia Linkow, junior
Aniqah Gaffoor and senior
Ella Stephan finished in 1:52.20 to beat George Fox in a head-to-head race by 3.25 seconds. Their time was a season-best by 1.49 seconds and moved them into ninth place in program history.
Lewis & Clark closed out the day with the 10
th-fastest time in program history in the 200 Free Relay. Gaffoor, junior
AJ Schroeder, Stephan and Barton combined to post a time of 1:40.80 to move into 10
th all-time. Their mark was a season-best by 2.67 seconds.
Junior
Jane Tewinkel claimed a place in the B Final of the 100 Backstroke. She posted a season-best mark of 1:01.74 to finish 12
th in prelims. Tewinkel took 13
th in the B Final with a time of 1:02.25. Sophomore
Ainsley Rios finished 29
th in the prelims with a collegiate PR time of 1:21.54 (1.00 faster than her previous PR). Senior
Josephine Mann placed 30
th in the event with a season-best mark of 1:23.20.
Gaffoor was Lewis & Clark's lone representative in the 100 Fly. She placed ninth out of 23 swimmers in the prelims with a mark of 59.86 (just 0.13 out of the A Final). Gaffoor won the B Final to place ninth overall. Her time of 59.07 was a season-best mark by 0.36 seconds and her best time in the event since the 2023 NWC Championship Meet.
Linkow led three Lewis & Clark swimmers in the 100 Breaststroke. She finished in 15
th place in the prelims to qualify for the B Finals. Her time of 1:12.81 was a collegiate PR by 1.33 seconds. In the B Finals, she shaved off an additional 0.24 seconds to place 16
th overall (1:12.57). Schroeder and junior
Ella Gimon also swam the 100 Breaststroke. Schroeder finished 18
th in the prelims with a time of 1:14.54. Gimon posted a collegiate PR time by nearly three seconds (2.95) to finish 22
nd overall (1:19.13).
Schroeder finished 17
th in the 400 IM. They touched the wall in 5:20.89.
Five swimmers joined Barton in the 200 Free prelims. Stephan posted a huge collegiate PR by 3.75 seconds to finish 18
th overall (2:05.17). Sophomore
Sophie Justus placed 23
rd in the event with a time of 2:07.86. First year
Claire Hurty finished in 27
th place with a time of 2:09.86. Senior
Claire Baco took 34
th overall after posting a massive collegiate PR time by 4.15 seconds. She finished the race in 2:21.74.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Billings is the first Pioneer to win the 100 Fly since Emile Blevins won the event in 1994. He is the fourth men's swimmer to win the event and it's the fifth time men's swimming has won the event at NWCs (1988-90, 94 and 2025). Billings is the first men's swimmer to win multiple events at the same NWCS since 1991 when Andrew Potter won the 400 IM and 200 Fly.
- Barton came into the meet ranked fifth in the 50 Free (placed 5th), 15th in the 200 Free (placed seventh) and eighth in the 100 Free. She's aiming to become the first Pioneer women's swimmer to earn All-Conference honors in all three individual events since Gaffoor accomplished the feat in 2023.
- Rysavy has now earned All-Conference honors three times at this year's meet (tying his career-high) and 10 times for his career. He will still compete in one more individual event and one more relay on Sunday.
- Through their first two full days of competition, six swimmers have combined to earn nine All-Conference honors. The teams have also combined for seven program-record marks.
WHAT'S NEXT
Lewis & Clark will close out the 2025 NWC Championship Meet on Sunday. The prelims will again start at 9:30 am, but the finals will commence at 4 p.m.
