PORTLAND, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College men's basketball rallied from a 10-point deficit in the second half, to earn the school's first-ever win as River Otters and lift head coach Shanan Rosenberg to his first win at the helm of the program.

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED

Senior Andre Treadwell led four River Otters in double-figures. Treadwell poured in 23 points on 9-16 shooting and hit five of his eight 3-point attempts. The senior added six rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal.

Senior Kody Uyesugi added 15 points on 5-7 shooting from distance. Uyesugi only attempted 3-pointers in the game and tacked on two assists and a steal.

Jackson and Rodriguez both finished with 14 points apiece. Jackson went 6-11 from the field and chipped in five rebounds, two assists and a block. Rodriguez went 5-7 from the field, 3-3 from deep and registered three assists and three steals.

Sophomore Marcus Bast led the team with 12 rebound and six assists. Bast finished with four points and two steals.

Saturday's contest was a back-and-forth affair with both teams leading by at least 10 points. After an even first 10 minutes, Lewis & Clark built a 29-19 lead with 5:01 to go before halftime. The River Otters used a 9-2 run to pad their lead with Rodriguez and Uyesugi each hitting 3-pointers and Jackson adding three points of his own.

Simpson would cut the deficit to 31-27 with three minutes to go before halftime but the River Otters would head into the break leading 39-32.

The visitors managed to tie the game at 49-49 with 13:56 to go in regulation. Simpson would extend their run to 32-15 to start the second half, to grab a 64-54 lead with 9:47 left in the game.

Jackson and Treadwell would immediately answer with a 7-0 run. Jackson and Treadwell hit back-to-back layups and Treadwell canned a 3-pointer to bring Lewis & Clark back within three (64-61).

Simpson would push their advantage back out to seven (70-63) at the final media timeout.

Uyesugi drained a 3-pointer out of the break and after a Simpson basket, junior transfer Jammial Hicks, Jr. came through with a driving layup for his first basket at Lewis & Clark.

With the River Otters trailing 73-68, Rodriguez converted a fast-break layup off a Bast assist. On the next possession, Bast followed a Treadwell miss with a putback to make it 73-72.

After another Red Hawks turnover, Rodriguez drained a 3-pointer from the corner, to give Lewis & Clark their first lead since it was 49-47 with 14 minutes to play.

Jackson tipped in his own miss with under a minute to go to extend the lead back to 77-74. Simpson would score on their next possession to make it 77-76.

The Red Hawks had two chances to retake the lead. Timothy Parker's jumper from the free-throw line fell of the mark with 10 seconds to play. Preston Kilbert's threw up an off-balance shot as the buzzer sounded but it glanced off the rim to seal the win.

COACHES' CORNER

Shanan Rosenberg's thoughts about the team's first win of the season:

"I was extremely proud of our team tonight, they fought their hearts out for that win.

Everyone on the court and bench stepped up their game tonight, it was really cool to behold.

When we went down double digits in second half, our kids' collective response tells me a ton about their character and belief in each other."
