HOW IT HAPPENED

Lewis & Clark fell behind for the first time all season and despite going down by 14 points on three occasions nearly came all the way back.

Sophomore quarterback Dashiell Weaver threw for 230 yards and added 75 rushing yards. He finished 17-31 for two passing touchdowns and two interceptions. Weaver tacked on 75 yards on nine rushes (8.3 yards per carry) and a rushing touchdown. Graduate student Sam Simril went 3-5 for 57 yards and a passing touchdown. Simril tacked on three carries for 24 yards.

Seniors Garrett Lee and Dez Holton each finished with over 100-receiving yards. Lee pulled in five catches for 118 yards. Holton added eight catches for 105 yards and two scores. Junior Rio Cruz added a nine-yard touchdown catch on his lone grab of the day.

Senior Isaac Glover led the Pioneers backfield. He posted 16 rushing yards on two carries. Fellow senior Jordan Lahusky tacked on five rushes for 13 yards.

Senior Daryl Scott and junior Jordan Delgado tied for the team lead with 10 tackles apiece. Scott posted four solo tackles, one sack (18 yards) and a forced fumble. Delgado chipped in two solo tackles, a tackle-for-loss and a pass break-up.

Senior Jack Warren finished third on the team with nine tackles (one tackle-for-loss). Senior Andrew Baum and sophomore Jaden Mwendapole each added seven tackles. Baum registered 0.5 tackles-for-loss and Mwendapole led the team with five solo tackles.

Senior Charlie Valencia posted the team's lone takeaway in the game with his second career interception.

After falling behind 21-0 to Lewis & Clark in the first quarter in Week 2, George Fox took the lead on their third play from scrimmage. First year JJ Leman connected with Karsen Denault for a 51-yard touchdown pass to make it 7-0 with 13:38 left in the first quarter.

Lewis & Clark drove the ball inside the George Fox 10-yard line on their first drive. Weaver's first three passes moved the ball from the Lewis & Clark 18 to the George Fox 13 (69 yards). The Pioneers drive stalled out and Bruins defensive lineman Jacob Erickson blocked the field goal attempt to keep the game 7-0.

On the second George Fox possession, Scott posted a sack-fumble for an 18-yard loss but the Bruins recovered the ball at the 50-yard line to set up 2nd and 35. On the next play, Leman found Denault for a 50-yard touchdown pass to make it 14-0.

Lewis & Clark cut the deficit to 14-7 on the second play of the second quarter. With the Pioneers facing a 4thand 11 from the 22-yard line, Weaver found Holton for a 22-yard touchdown pass.

George Fox drove the ball inside the 10-yard line on the next drive but Valencia picked off Leman in the end zone to keep the game within one score.

The hosts made it 21-7 with 39 seconds remaining in the half on a Brody Snyder 10-yard run.

Lewis & Clark managed to counter with a score of their own before half. Lahusky posted a 35-yard kickoff return to help Lewis & Clark start the drive across midfield. Weaver and Holton connected three times on the drive, with the final pass going for a four-yard touchdown pass.

The Pioneers got the ball to start the second half and drove the ball to the Bruins 13-yard line. On third-and-seven, Ty Borde recorded an interception in the end zone to cut the drive short.

George Fox pushed their lead to 28-14 on the fourth play of the fourth quarter. Snyder posted his second rushing score of the game with a 2-yard touchdown run.

The Bruins added their second interception of the game on the following drive and added a Leman touchdown run from five-yards out to push their lead to 35-14.

Lewis & Clark would add two late scores. Weaver brought Lewis & Clark within 14 with 6:02 to play, when he raced in for a 29-yard rushing touchdown.

Simril led Lewis & Clark to a touchdown drive in the final two minutes. He found Cruz for a nine-yard touchdown pass with 43 seconds left to close out the scoring.
