HOW IT HAPPENED
Senior Griffin Datcher IV and junior Kody Uyesugi each scored 13 points to lead a balanced Lewis & Clark attack that saw four players score in double figures. Junior Andre Treadwell (12 points) and senior Isaac Ticeson (10 points) also scored in double figures and all four Pioneers shot 60 % or better in the game.
Ticeson just missed out on a double-double against the Loggers, grabbing nine rebounds to lead the Pioneers on the glass. Senior Sebastian DePrez was second on the team with eight boards.
Datcher IV and Ticeson scored the first 10 points for Lewis & Clark before junior Taien Jackson hit a floater to cap the opening run to make the lead 12-3 with 13:17 left in the first half. Uyesugi gave the Pioneers their largest lead of the half, 26-15, with six and half minutes before the break. Treadwell hit a layup at the horn to give Lewis & Clark a 31-24 halftime lead. The Pioneers allowed just one offensive rebound in the first half and zero second chance points.
Lewis & Clark extended their lead to 12 off of an offensive rebound and tip-in from Ticeson just three minutes after halftime. The Loggers fought back and pulled within 41-36 at the 12:23 mark on a second chance layup from Ian Cook. Cook led all players in the game with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Behind the shooting of senior Mikey Medlock Jr. (five points), DePrez and Uyesugi, the Pioneers extended their lead back out to 12, a minute and half later. At 8:32, senior Sam Henderson (five points) tipped in his own missed layup to give Lewis & Clark their largest lead of the game, 55-39. The Pioneers held on for their first win over the Loggers since a 72-68 home victory on February 4, 2022. The win snapped a four-game losing streak to Puget Sound.
