THE BASICS

#8 Whitman 72, Lewis & Clark 33
(Lewis & Clark 2-9, 0-3 NWC)
(Whitman 11-1, 3-0 NWC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Kendrick scored a career-high 10 points and led the Pioneers with seven rebounds. Frederickson led Lewis & Clark with 12 points and added four boards. Sophomore Isabella Bernard was third on the team with five points and contributed two rebounds.

Junior Madelyn Sanchez tallied three assists and two steals, while sophomore Divinity Singleton provided solid minutes off the bench with two points and three rebounds.

Kendrick scored the first four points for the Pioneers to keep the deficit in single digits, hitting free throws (4-2) and a layup (7-4) early, but Whitman began to pull away. After trailing 22-9 at the end of the first quarter, Lewis & Clark faced increased defensive pressure in the second quarter and managed just two points as the Blues extended their lead to 35-11 at halftime.

Bernard and Frederickson each connected from three-point range after the break, and first-year Kaitlen Carns added a layup to help Lewis & Clark reach double digits in the third quarter with 10 points.

Kendrick scored six of the Pioneers' 12 points in the final quarter, but they couldn't overcome Whitman's balanced attack, led by two-time NWC Player of the Year Korin Baker's game-high 18 points.

Carly Martin added 15 points and Christiane Carlisle contributed 14 points for the Blues, who shot 41 percent from the field and collected 21 assists on 25 made baskets.
