HOW IT HAPPENED
Schreifels recorded her second career hat trick and became the second women's soccer player in program history to score a goal in four consecutive games, joining Anna Thorndike, who accomplished the feat from September 14 to 22, 2013.
Jones recorded five saves, including three in the first 12 minutes of play, to earn her second career shutout and her third straight and career win in net.
Sophomore
Grace Smith led the Pioneers with six shots against the Bearcats. Schreifels was second on the team with four shots, all on target, while juniors
Megan Yanagi (two on goal) and
Carli Driskill (one on target) were third with two shots each in the game.
Junior
Elle Sparks booted the ball from about 40 yards out and found Schreifels in the box, who headed the ball past Willamette goalie Sam Borngasser at the 25:26 mark. It was the first career assist for Sparks and the seventh goal of the season for Schreifels.
Almost 13 minutes into the second half, sophomore
Iris Stutzman connected with Schreifels for the third time in as many games. This time, Stutzman kicked the ball from the far side of the penalty box and found a sliding Schreifels to put the Pioneers up 2-0 at 57:54.
On a Lewis & Clark throw-in by junior
Abby Morrow, Stutzman's header found a running Schreifels, who scored her third goal of the game on her third touch with a left foot behind the back heel kick.
