PORTLAND, Ore. –Lewis & Clark College women's tennis swept both matches for the first time this season, defeating the University of Puget Sound 8-1 in a Northwest Conference home match on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Seraphina Vossen,
Hayley Kreps,
Susanna Anand, and
Charlotte Makoni finished the day with two wins each, and the Pioneers swept doubles play to win their first NWC match since the beginning of March.
Kreps and Makoni started Lewis & Clark off with an 8-0 win over Laura Schneidman and Ella Parker at number three doubles.
Freshman
Emma Loucks and
Kacie Lau won their second doubles match of the weekend, 8-4, in the number two doubles match against Marissa Perez and Zoe Richter.
Anand and Vossen completed the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win over Kaylee Yamada and Krishna Agrawal in the first doubles flight.
Vossen quickly earned the Pioneers' fourth point of the match at number two singles. The senior didn't drop a game on her way to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Perez.
Soon after, Anand secured the team win for Lewis & Clark by grabbing a victory in the first flight. The junior defeated Yamada 6-1, 6-1 to earn her 15
th win in singles of the season.
In the fourth singles match, senior
Arielle Bloom won in straight sets, defeating Schneidman 7-6 (8-6), 6-1.
Loucks won the second set after dropping the first set to Agrawal to force a third-set 10-point super tiebreaker. Agrawal won the third singles match 6-2, 3-6, 10-7.
Kreps earned her second win of the day in the fifth singles flight. The junior earned a 6-3, 6-1 win over Richter.
Makoni followed close behind her doubles partner. The freshman won the sixth singles match 6-3, 6-1 over Parker.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Kreps and Makoni won their third consecutive doubles match as a team.
- Anand (4-1), Makoni (3-2) and Vossen (3-2) led the team with three or more singles wins in NWC play.
- Lewis & Clark earned their 11th straight win over Puget Sound and their largest margin of victory over the Loggers since 2018.
