HOW IT HAPPENED

The Pioneers led 2-1 after doubles play and marched through all six singles matches without dropping a set, with freshmen Emma Loucks, Charlotte Makoni, and junior Hayley Kreps leading the charge with two wins each.

Kreps and Makoni had the easiest time in doubles, taking the third flight 8-1 over Eva Lief and Alicia Sola.

Loucks and junior Kacie Lau earned Lewis & Clark's second win with an 8-5 victory at number two doubles over Alexa Crinis and Ruby Thompson.

The number one doubles match was the most competitive of the day, as it needed to be decided in a tiebreaker. Sophomore Susanna Anand and senior Seraphina Vossen fell 8-7 (8-6) to Anika Groener and Richelle Suzuki.

Anand bounced back in the first singles match, winning 6-0, 6-2 over Crinis.

Vossen and Groener played for the second time on Saturday in the second singles flight. Vossen emerged with a 6-3, 6-2 win.

Loucks took the first set 6-3 over Suzuki before only dropping one game in the second set, winning 6-1 at number three singles.

Arielle Bloom took on Lief in the fourth flight. The senior grabbed a 6-4, 6-2 straight-sets win.

Kreps had the most convincing singles win of the day at number five singles, delivering a bagel and a breadstick to Sola in a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

Makoni earned her second win of the day, a 6-2, 6-1 win over Thompson at the six-spot.
