REDLANDS, Calif. –Lewis & Clark College women's lacrosse faced a tough challenge during their first-ever road trip to Southern California as the University of Redlands allowed only two first-quarter goals on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lauren Elliott assisted
Finley Allen on the Pioneers' first goal of the day for her first collegiate assist. Later in the first quarter, Elliott added an unassisted goal for herself to lead the team on offense. Elliott finished with three shots, two draw controls, and a ground ball on the day. Allen ended with two ground balls, a draw control, and a caused turnover.
Sophomore
Kate Meinhard led the team with seven draw controls and four ground balls, while freshman
Sage Swegle was second with four draw controls and three ground balls.
Keeper
Zoey Hamel-Hyland had four saves and tied Swegle with three ground balls. The freshman split time in net with classmate
Aster Daellenbach, each playing a half against the Bulldogs.
Elliott connected with Allen for a woman-up goal with 10:59 on the clock in the first quarter to pull Lewis & Clark within 3-1. At 6:05, Elliott scored a quick goal after Swegle won a draw control following a Redlands goal 24 seconds earlier. The Bulldogs led 10-2 after the first period.
Six different Bulldogs scored in the second period, including Emily Webster and Ella Batarse, who completed hat tricks in the first half. Redlands took a 16-2 lead into halftime.
Lewis & Clark was able to slow Redlands on the offensive end in the second half, surrendering only six goals over the final 30 minutes.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Allen scored her third woman-up goal and 15th overall of the season against Redlands, tying her with fellow freshman Rowan Levandoski with the team lead in woman-up goals. Allen is second on the team in goals scored this season behind Swegle, who has 26.
- The Pioneers held a slight 14-13 edge in draw controls over the Bulldogs for the game.
- Six Lewis & Clark players finished with one caused turnover. Allen was joined by Meinhard, Hamel-Hyland, Swegle, Evelyn Burnett and Delaney Jones in causing a Redlands turnover.
- Elliott scored her ninth goal of the season in the first quarter.
