CLAREMONT, Calif. – Lewis & Clark College women's tennis swept all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point and won five of the six singles matches over NAIA Hope International University on Sunday for a 6-1 non-conference victory and earned their first win of the season.

Charlotte Makoni all finished 2-0 in the dual on the Claremont College campus.
The NAIA issues one doubles point for the team that wins at least two of the doubles matches. Makoni and
Emma Loucks earned the first win in doubles for the Pioneers. The freshman duo defeated Nicole Escamillo and Lana Kamel 6-3 in third doubles.
Kreps and fellow junior
Kacie Lau won the second doubles flight 6-3 over Tiffany Beukes and Ellie Black to secure the doubles point for Lewis & Clark in the dual match.
Anand and Vossen made it a clean sweep for the Pioneers with a 6-4 victory at number one doubles over Maldini Simic and Eva Echeverri.
Arielle Bloom continued the winning streak for Lewis & Clark in the fifth singles match. The senior easily defeated Catrina Hibbard 6-1, 6-2.
Kreps was the first Pioneer to earn her second win of the day, taking down Escamillo in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 at number four singles.
Vossen also won here match 6-3, 6-3. She triumphed over Beukes in the second singles flight.
Lewis & Clark secured their first dual win of the season at number six singles. Makoni was victorious over Isabel Coscolluela 6-2, 6-4.
Hope International earned their lone point of the day in the number three match. Loucks fell in straight sets to Echeverri 6-3, 6-3.
The first singles match was the only match to go three sets. Anand lost the first set to Black 6-2 before pulling off a reverse sweep and taking the next two sets 6-3, 6-3. Black finished the fall season ranked #15 in the ITA NAIA West Regional Singles Rankings.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Juniors Lauren Smith-Euben and Soraya Young-Pen defeated Coscolluela and Hibbard 6-1 in a doubles exhibition match.
- The Pioneers won all three doubles matches for the first time this season.
- Kreps and Lau combined for six of Lewis & Clark's seven wins in the second doubles flight last season but never as doubles partners in dual matches.
WHO'S NEXT
The Pioneers will play their third match in as many days, hosting California Lutheran University on Monday at 6:00 p.m. in the Lewis & Clark Tennis Dome. The Regals will play on the Lewis & Clark campus for the second time this weekend as they defeated Puget Sound 9-0 in the Dome on Friday.
