McMINNVILLE, Ore.—Linfield University slipped past Lewis & Clark College women's tennis 6-3 in an extremely tight non-conference match on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In a match that featured two three-set singles tilts and three tiebreakers to decide sets, Linfield won both three-setters and two of the three tiebreakers, to claim a victory over the Pioneers.
Sophomore
Susanna Anand went 2-0 on Saturday to lead Lewis & Clark. Freshman
Charlotte Makoni added the other Pioneers victory with a win at sixth singles.
Linfield opened the match with a win at second doubles. Kaitlynn Canubida and Alexis Garner teamed up to defeat junior
Hayley Kreps and freshman
Emma Loucks 8-4.
The Pioneers tied the match at 1-1 with a win at first flight doubles. Senior
Seraphina Vossen and Anand combined for an 8-6 victory over Emma Tuttle and Sarah Forester.
The hosts grabbed a 2-1 lead after doubles thanks to a win at the number three spot. Samantha Baltz and Lisa Ponti held off junior
Kacie Lau and Makoni 8-5.
Lewis & Clark tied the match for a second time after Anand posted a win at first singles. The Pioneers top singles players breezed to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Forester.
Canubida gave Linfield the lead right back at third singles when she defeated Loucks 6-2, 6-3.
The Pioneers tied the match at 3-3 with a win at sixth singles. Makoni earned her first collegiate dual match victory with a 6-4, 6-2 decision at sixth singles.
Linfield earned the match win by claiming tight wins in the final three singles matches to finish.
Senior
Arielle Bloom took the first set 6-3 over Baltz at fifth singles. Baltz responded by winning the final two sets 6-1, 6-1 to earn a 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 win and make it 4-3 Linfield.
The Wildcats earned the match win at fourth singles. Garner took the first set from Kreps 6-2, but Kreps proved much more competitive in the second set. The duo went to a tiebreak to decide the set and Garner earned the win 6-2, 7-5 (7-5).
In the tightest match of the day, Vossen and Tuttle would need three sets at second singles. The pair split the first two sets with both going to tiebreakers. Vossen took the first set 7-6 (7-2) but Tuttle held on for a 7-6 (13-11) second set to force a third set. With the overall match decision already decided (5-3 Linfield), the pair played a super tiebreaker in the third set. In the race to 10 points, Tuttle claimed the match win 6-7 (7-2), 7-6 (13-11), 10-7.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Anand is a perfect 4-0 this spring. She and Vossen have won both of their doubles matches and Anand has won four of her five sets in singles play.
- The Pioneers have played six three-set singles matches in their first two dual matches of the year. Thus far Lewis & Clark is 2-4 in matches that have gone to three sets.
- Anand improved to 12-4 this year. She has won six-straight singles matches (7-2 overall).
- With the win Linfield earned their ninth-straight win over the Pioneers. Saturday's match score was the closest result during the streak.

Lewis & Clark will travel to Southern California to play two matches next weekend. The Pioneers will take on Whittier College on Saturday at 9 a.m.
