Men's Basketball Stifles Douglas In Non-Conference Win

PORTLAND, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College men's basketball held visiting Douglas College to 18 points in the first half, as the Pioneers cruised to a 73-44 win over the Royals on Sunday afternoon.Ā

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Pioneers defense matched their second-fewest points allowed in a game this season on Sunday, to improve to 3-1 this season at Pamplin Gymnasium. All fourteen healthy Lewis & Clark players saw the floor and 13 players scored in the win.Ā

Senior Mikey Medlock Jr. led all players with 17 points in 17 minutes. He went 6-9 from the field and hit four of seven 3-point attempts.Ā

Senior Sam Henderson tacked on 14 points in 15 minutes of action. He finished 6-10 from the field and chipped in five rebounds.Ā

Senior Sebastian DePrez and junior Kody Uysegui tied for the third on the team with six points apiece. DePrez pulled down a game-high nine rebounds (four offensive) and Uysegui hit two of his three 3-point attempts.Ā

Lewis & Clark jumped on the Royals early. Taien Jackson hit a jumper on the opening possession of the game and Nate Berg added a 3-pointer on the next trip down for a 5-0 lead less than a minute into the game.Ā

With the Pioneers leading 15-9 with 13:04 left in the half, Lewis & Clark went on an 8-0 run to grab their first double-digit lead of the game. Uysegui and Medlock Jr. connected on back-to-back threes and Justin White added a fast-break layup to make it 23-9 with 11:15 to go before halftime.Ā

The hosts grabbed their largest lead of the half just before halftime. Henderson recorded a pair of layups in the final three minutes to push the lead to 37-18 at the break.Ā

Douglas would pull within 17 one time in the second half, before Lewis & Clark would steadily extend their advantage. Marcus Bast hit a layup with 2:48 to play to give Lewis & Clark their largest lead of the game at 32 points (71-39).Ā

  • In their five wins this season, Lewis & Clark is holding opponents to 45.0 points per game. They have allowed 45 points or fewer in four of the contests. The Pioneers held Portland Bible College to just 37 points on November 21.Ā
