Women’s Soccer, Boxers Battle to Scoreless Draw

Anna Ingadottir records third career clean sheet with save in defensive struggle.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Junior goalkeeper Anna Ingadottir recorded a clean sheet while Lewis & Clark College women's soccer created multiple scoring opportunities in a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Pacific University at Hanson Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Junior Megan Yanagi forced Pacific goalkeeper Kylie Pascual into action early with a shot on goal in the first minute. Senior Celeste Schreifels threatened in the 29th minute with a shot that sailed high of the crossbar.
 
Ingadottir kept the Boxers off the scoreboard with a save in the 52nd minute, denying Mirella Garcia's attempt. It was Pacific's best scoring opportunity in the game The Pioneer's defense anchored by senior Abby Hayes held the Boxers to three shots in the game. 
 
The Pioneers mounted sustained pressure in the final quarter of the match. Junior Carli Driskill tested Pascual twice, first in the 67th minute and again in the 78th minute, while first-year Juliette Miller forced another save from the Pacific keeper in the 71st minute. Defender Kate Meinhard had the final opportunity for Lewis & Clark, but the juniors shot sailed high in the 89th minute.

  • The Pioneers out shot the Boxers 6-3 over the course of the game.
  • Hayes played her final game for the Pioneers and in the past three seasons has started all 59 games while playing the full 90 in 54 of them.
  • Schreifels ends her Pioneer career with the top spot in program history with 11 game winning goals and 79 points, she is tied for first in career goals (34) and career assists (11).
  • For the third consecutive season, the Pioneers have ended the year with a scoreless draw.
  • Ingadottir earned her third career shutout in the season finale.
