PORTLAND, Ore. – With only a day of practice under their belt due to winter weather and a campus closure at Lewis & Clark College the men's basketball hosted Pacific University on Saturday evening in a Northwest Conference matchup that saw the Boxers emerge with a 77-63 win over the Pioneers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Junior
Sam Henderson and sophomore
Kody Uyesugi finished with 13 points apiece, and both hit two threes each to lead the Pioneers in scoring.
Henderson scored back-to-back layups early in the game to give Lewis & Clark an 8-5 lead, and he scored 10 of his 13 points in the first half.
Junior
Isaac Ticeson (10 points) scored his first basket of the game to make it 10-7 on a second-chance layup just over six minutes into the game. Pacific quickly tied the game at 10 when Lucas Winkler his the first of his game-high five treys seconds later. Lewis & Clark junior
Nate Berg (6 points) made two consecutive field goals to give the Pioneers their largest lead of the game, 14-10, at 12:53. Four minutes later, sophomore
TJ Muhammad would equal that lead for Lewis & Clark, hitting two of four free throws in a span of four seconds for a 21-17 lead.
The Boxers went on a 16-0 run over the next 4:30 minutes to take control of the game and a 33-21 lead. A free throw by junior
Griffin Datcher IV (9 points) would start a 6-0 Pioneer run. Uyesugi nailed his first three of the game, then grabbed a defensive rebound on the opposite end of the floor. Junior
Mikey Medlock Jr. (4 points, 5 assists) then found
Sebastian DePrez down low. The junior big man threw down the dunk to pull the Pioneers within 33-27. DePrez finished with six points and a team-high eight rebounds. Henderson hit a trey with a little over a minute to go to pull within 35-30, but Pacific responded with a three of their own to take a 38-30 halftime lead. Winkler scored 21 of his game-high 34 points in the first half for the Boxers.
Uyesugi pulled Lewis & Clark within five, 51-46, with 13:39 to go in the game, but the Pioneers would get no closer. Uyesugi scored 10 of his 13 points in the second half.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Lewis & Clark outscored Pacific in the paint 38-22.
- Ticeson, Berg, and Henderson led the Pioneers with two blocks each. Muhammad and Datcher IV added one apiece as the Pioneers blocked eight Boxer shots.
- DePrez led all players with eight rebounds, including five offensive boards.
- The Boxers shot 52% (13-25) from three compared to 22.2% (4-18) for the Pioneers.
