Women’s Rowing Earns National Championship Bid

Pioneers are returning to the National Championship for first time since 2006.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Lewis & Clark College Women's Rowing earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Rowing Championship in Pennsauken, New Jersey, Memorial Day Weekend.

The Pioneers will be sending their Women's Varsity 8+ and Women's Second Varsity 8+ boats to race on the Cooper River Park on May 26-27 for the first time since 2006. The championship is hosted by Temple University and the Camden County Boathouse.

Eight teams will compete to be this year's Division III National Champion. Lewis & Clark is one of the four at-large bids because the Northwest Conference does not have an automatic qualifier for the rowing championship. The other three at-large teams are Bates College, Tufts University, and Wesleyan University (Connecticut). The four automatic qualifiers to nationals are Ithaca College, Washington College, Williams College, and Wellesley College.

The W1V8+ will row in the I Eights Heat A on Friday, the 26th, for a spot in the finals. In the first semi-final, they will race against Ithaca, Wellesley, and Bates.

The W2V8+ will race in the II Eights Heat B that same day against Ithaca, Bates, and Tufts for a spot in the finals on Saturday.

More details will be provided when they are made available by the NCAA.
