NEWBERG, Ore. – Lewis & Clark College men's tennis lost No. 1 doubles in a tiebreak and senior
Kristian Peev was up 5-4 in the first set of No. 1 singles when play was stopped as George Fox University ended the Pioneers season with a 5-0 win in the Northwest Conference Tournament semi-finals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Freshman
Kai Wills and sophomore
Matt Chio played doubles at the number 2 spot, taking on Lars Schmassmann and Hunter Fujimori. Wills and Chio fell 8-2 in the match.
Senior
Alberto Dos Santos and freshman
Landon Cronin were down 6-1 to Austin Stone and Eli Mizerski at No. 3 doubles. The Pioneers duo won two games in a row to pull with in 6-3 before the Bruins finished the match to win 8-3.
Peev and freshman
Wade McDermott were down 7-6 at No. 1 doubles against Camden Camacho and Vahag Pashayan. McDermott made a backhand return to break the Bruins' serve and tie the match at seven, sending it to a tie-break. Peev and McDermott were up 6-4 in the tie-break, before Camacho and Pashayan rattled off four points to take the match (8-7 (10-6)).
Dos Santos and Stone met again at No. 3 singles, where Dos Santos was able to grab 3 games over two sets, falling 6-1, 6-2.
McDermott and Camacho went head-to-head at the four spot. McDermott fell 6-1, 6-0 in the deciding match.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Chio was down 6-2, 2-1 in the unfinished No. 2 singles match to Mizerski.
- Junior Miles Stone took on Schmassmann at No. 5 singles and was down 6-0, 5-0 when play stopped.
- Wills was down 6-0, 5-1 to Fujimori in the unfinished No. 6 singles match.
- Peev finishes his Pioneer Career with a 28-18 singles record and 23-14 in doubles.
- In two seasons with the Pioneers, Dos Santos went 13-16 in singles and 13-16 in doubles.

The Pioneers expect to return eight players from this year's squad that finished fourth in the NWC with a 4-3 record.
