Kacie Lau won the deciding point for Lewis & Clark College in an exciting 5-4 win over the visiting College of Idaho Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Coyotes struck first as Lauren Kreutzer and Leiana Almaraz won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles over the Pioneers'
Caren Uribe and
Seraphina Vossen. Junior
Arielle Bloom and sophomore
Hayley Kreps tied the dual at No. 2 doubles with an 8-5 win over Nicole Tran and Anna Willcuts. Lau and freshman
Yenenesh Cohen gave the Pios the lead with an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles over Summer Townsend and Brooke McNeel.
Kreps dominated Morgan Leavitt 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles to give Lewis & Clark a 3-1 lead and earn her second win of the day.
College of Idaho took the next two singles matches to even the score at three all. Uribe took the first set 6-4 at No. 1 singles, but the Pioneer sophomore lost the following two sets to Kreutzer 6-3, 6-2. The Yotes Almaraz defeated Bloom 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
Vossen lost the first set 6-4 of No. 3 singles. The junior then dominated the remaining two sets 6-1, 6-2 to give the Pioneers the lead again.

Allison Gabelman played at No. 6 singles for Lewis & Clark. College of Idaho's Willcuts defeated Gabelman 6-3, 6-2 to tie the dual score.
Number five singles was the dual's deciding match. Lau and Townsend faced off for the second time Sunday. Townsend took the first set in a tiebreak 7-6 (7-2). Lau evened the match, taking the second set 7-6 (7-0). Lau overtook Townsend and won 6-2 in the third to secure the win for the Pioneers.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Lau and Kreps combined for four of the Pioneers' five points.
- The Pioneers have won both meetings with the Coyotes, as they won 7-2 last February.
- Lau is 4-1 this spring, 2-0 in singles, and 2-1 in doubles.
- The College of Idaho came into the match 4-1 against Northwest Conference teams. In the past 10 days, the Yotes defeated Pacific Lutheran University, University of Puget Sound and Willamette University and fell to George Fox University.
- Cohen is 3-1 in doubles play in her first spring for the Pioneers.
- The Pioneers are having the most success at No. 4 singles, No. 2 doubles, and No. 3 doubles; they are 3-3 in non-conference play at all three spots.

Lewis & Clark starts Northwest Conference play on Saturday when they host George Fox at 11 a.m. in the L&C Tennis Dome.
