Senior Sophia Young sets new program shutout record, notches 200th save.

PORTLAND, Ore.
 – Lewis & Clark College women's soccer celebrated their eight seniors before Sunday's Northwest Conference home game against Whitworth University and came away with a 0-0 draw for their sixth clean sheet of the season.

THE BASICS

Lewis & Clark 0, Whitworth 0
(Lewis & Clark 5-11-4, NWC 4-8-4)
(Whitworth 9-6-5, NWC 9-5-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Lewis & Clark senior goalkeeper Sophia Young earned her 18th career shutout in net, setting the new program record and passing Geena Fong (2011-14) in her final game as a Pioneer. Young recorded three saves in the game for the clean sheet; her final save in the 84th minute, on a shot from Whitworth's Maddie Kutschukau, was the 200th save of her career.

Besides Young, seniors Sasha Raimondo, Celeste Schreifels, Kavya Riedman, Macy O'Hara, Giselle Bodeen, Chloe Helenihi, and Grace Billings all started their final game wearing the orange kits.

In the 31st minute of the game, Billings booted a cross to the far side to Schreifels, whose header missed just outside the near post for Lewis & Clark's best chance for a score until that point.

Five minutes later, Billings booted a corner kick that Whitworth keeper Kate Nelson stopped for her first save of the game.

Raimondo, Schreifels, O'Hara, Bodeen, and Billings had five of the Pioneers' nine shots in the game, and O'Hara and Billings were both on target.

Sophomore Carson Warfield let the team with three shots against the Pirates before earning her second yellow card and automatic red at 67:07 in the game, leaving the Pioneers down a player for the remaining 22:53.

  • Freshman Grace Smith came off the bench and recorded the Pioneers' ninth shot of the game.
