Walla Walla, Wash. – A night after a double overtime win, the women's basketball team came away with a split after they lost to defending Northwest Conference champ Whitman College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pioneers held a 7-5 lead halfway through the first quarter Saturday afternoon, but then the Blues took control of the game. At the end of one, Whitman held a four-point advantage. The ball couldn't find the bottom of the net in the second quarter for the Pioneers, and the Blues grew their lead to 34-18 at the half.
Freshman
Tatiana Rebanal ended an eight-minute field goal drought, hitting a long-range shot to start the second half. After three quarters, Whitman took a 61-28 lead thanks to a 15-2 run.
Karli Mukai, a junior, scored six of her team-high 13 points in the fourth quarter, she averaged 25.5 points on the weekend road trip. The Pios outscored the Blues 16-12 in the final quarter, but it wasn't enough to come back against Whitman.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Junior Natalie Elstone finished the weekend a perfect 12-12 from the charity stripe.
- Rebanal and junior Charlotte Carroll each chipped in six points. Carroll pulled down seven boards to lead the team.
- Mukai and senior Kendal Jones pulled down six rebounds each.
- Senior Gabby Beltran and sophomore Piper Curry contributed five points a piece.
