HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half of Saturday night's game saw numerous scoring runs. Grad student Tyler McFarland stopped an 11-0 run by the league-leading Blues when he hit a three a little over five minutes into the game. The Pios then scored the next six points to close the gap to 11-9. Whitman countered with a 17-2 run. Pioneer senior Brenden Patrick scored a layup during that run, putting him in the 900-point club. Lewis & Clark responded with a 10-3 run of their own. Senior Grant Stewart scored the sixth of his 13 points to pull the Pios within 31-21 with just under five minutes left in the half. The Blues carried a 48-23 advantage into halftime.

The Pios kept up with the Blues scoring in the second half. Patrick scored 16 of his game-high 18 points and went 9-13 from the line after halftime. Jack Henderson, a senior, added seven of his nine points in the second stanza. Junior Roderick O'Neal hit a three with 26 seconds left to give the Pioneers the second-half point advantage.
