Forest Grove, Ore. – Lewis & Clark men's basketball overcame a 12-point first-half deficit and outscored Pacific University 52-39 in the second half to secure the road win and sole possession of the fourth and final playoff spot to start the second half of Northwest Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Seniors
Jack Henderson,
Brenden Patrick, and junior
Jayden Simpson combined for 69 points to lead the Pioneers over the Boxers and split the season series for the fourth consecutive year. Henderson had a team-high 30 points, Patrick followed with 24, and Simpson added 15.
Henderson helped the Pios jump out to an early 7-0 lead, scoring five in the first two minutes. The Boxers took a 10-9 lead with 15:12 left in the half, and they wouldn't relinquish it before halftime. Pacific would take their largest lead, 39-27, with 2:46 remaining in the first. Simpson and Patrick outscored the Boxers 9-2 the rest of the half and cut the hosts' lead to 41-36 at the break.
The Pios kept the score close to start the second half. The first ten minutes after the break saw two lead changes and two ties. Sophomore
Ryan Trunkett hit a three with 9:26 left in the game to give the Pioneers a 66-65 lead and start a 10-0 Lewis & Clark run.
Pacific's leading scorer, Jacob Bolger, scored 27 of his team-high 30 points in the first 29 minutes of the game. The Pios' defense stepped up the rest of the way and held Bolger to three points over the final 11 minutes.
Patrick hit a layup with just over five minutes left and drew the foul for an and-one, which gave the Pioneers their largest lead, 78-69, and they led by no less than six the rest of the game.
BY THE NUMBERS
- This was Henderson's fourth 30-point game of the season and the sixth of his career. He led all players with nine rebounds.
- Patrick shot 9-12 from the field and a perfect 6-6 at the line. He also grabbed five boards.
- Trunkett went 2-3 from beyond the arc to finish with seven points.
- Simpson went 9-12 from the charity stripe and 3-5 from the field.
- Trunkett, Simpson, and sophomores Sebastian DePrez and Khalil Glover-Dodson pulled down four rebounds each.
- The Pioneers have won four of their last five games.
