HOW IT HAPPENED
Sophomore
Debi Chun's return to the line-up tonight gave Lewis and Clark an offensive boost. The Pios opened the match with a 1-0 lead off a Chun kill. The opening set was tied 4-4 before George Fox went on a 5-1 run. The Pioneers would not go away and put together runs of 4-1 and 8-2 to pull within 22-19. The Bruins closed out the set 25-20.
George Fox started the second set hot and jumped to a lead of 8-3. A Pio timeout helped slow the Bruin momentum, and the Pios were able to start a side-out battle to keep the score close. A service ace by junior
Katie Shimaura pulled Lewis and Clark within 13-9. A 10-1 run by the Bruins put the set out of reach.
The Bruins started the final set on a 4-1 run, but the Pios stuck around and took the lead 15-13 on an
Ashley Kane kill. George Fox regained the lead for good at 16-15, but Lewis and Clark never gave up and were able to get to 23-20 before George Fox won 25-20.
