Senior Katie Shimaura recorded her 1,000 career dig halfway through the second set of Saturday night’s 3-1 win over Linfield and became the fourth Pioneer in program history to record 1,000 digs or more in their career. After digging up 22 balls on Friday night at Puget Sound, Shimaura needed only 16 digs to achieve the milestone on Saturday. She notched 11 digs in the first set against the Wildcats.

Shimaura stepped up to serve in the second set and recorded an ace to give the Pioneers a 15-14 lead. During the next point, she recorded her 999th and 1,000th digs. Shimaura finished Saturday’s match with a season-best 35 digs and 57 digs between the two weekend matches. On Wednesday Shimaura added 21 digs against Willamette and moved into third on the program career dig list with 1, 040 digs.
