Mark Pietrok was named the Director of Physical Education and Athletics in June 2020 after two separate stints as Lewis & Clark's interim AD, the latest of which began in April 2019. The move occurred as Pietrok entered his 31st year at the college. He was named head athletic trainer in 1989.

In 2009, Pietrok was named Senior Associate Director of Athletics - Sports Medicine.

During the 2024-25 academic year, Pietrok led Lewis & Clark to their highest finish in the Northwest Conference McIlroy-Lewis All-Sports Trophy Standings since 2012-13 (seventh place) and their most points in the standings in school history (164 points). Since taking over as the Director of Physical Education and Athletics in 2020, three Lewis & Clark teams have won Northwest Conference Titles and four teams have advanced to compete at Nationals. In 2023, the baseball and women's crew teams each won the NWC Title on the same day - marking the school's first conference titles since 2016. Lewis & Clark added an NWC Tournament Title in men's basketball in 2025 and the softball program earned an at-large bid to advance to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.

Pietrok is a 1985 graduate of the University of Portland with an Interdisciplinary Degree and received his Masters of Education from the University of Portland in 1988. He served as the assistant athletics trainer at Portland from 1987-89.Â
