Kyle McCormick joined the Pioneers coaching staff in the Fall of 2023. The 2025 season marked his second year as the team's pitching coach.
During the 2025 season, the Pioneers pitching staff posted the program's first three shutouts since the 2021 season. The three shutouts were just one off the program record of four - set by the 1986 and 1990 teams. The Pioneers first shutout of the season came on March 24, when senior Luke Ritter and junior Nate Kerr combined for a one-hitter in a 2-0 road win over Whitman College. McCormick worked with a young pitching staff that included 11 underclassmen and just four juniors and seniors. At the end of the season, Kerr earned his first career All-Conference and All-Region honors and sophomore starter Caden Hodina was tabbed to the NWC Honorable Mention Team.
In his first season with the program, he worked with three pitchers who earned All-Conference honors (Anthony Clerici, Owen Eisen and Brett Pierson) and guided a young pitching staff that included two freshman starters and seven underclassmen.
A Southern California native, McCormick played collegiality at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, California, before finishing out his collegiate career at Benedictine University in Mesa, Arizona.
During his playing career, McCormick trained at Driveline, and will bring knowledge of a number of different protocols to the Pioneers pitching staff.
When not coaching the Pioneers, McCormick provides personal baseball training at the Yard in Beaverton and also serves as a coach with the EForce Baseball program.
