John Corkle

John Corkle was named the Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach prior to the 2022-23 school year. He also serves as an assistant coach with the track & field program. 

He brings 20 years of coaching experience to the Pioneer program. Corkle has experienced success at almost every level of track and field from middle school to pro. He brings experience of coaching high school in multiple states, including Nebraska, Missouri, and Arizona. 

Before becoming a coach at Lewis & Clark, Corkle coached in the private sector of sport performance in Phoenix, Arizona at Triple Threat Performance, and Altis, while being the co-head coach at Sandra Day O’Connor High School. At Sandra Day O’Connor, coach Corkle revived the sprints/hurdles/jumps/relays program establishing a school record in the boys 100 (10.61) and qualifying several student-athletes for state championships at the time.

Corkle graduated from University of Nebraska at Kearney in 2005 with a B.A. in Physical Education and in 2007 with am Ma. E.D. in Physical Education. Corkle has attained certification from USATF and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA. Coach Corkle is also an assistant strength coach for the Pioneer Strength and Conditioning program.  

John resides in Beaverton, OR with his wife, Katie and two kids, Cameron and Trey.
