Adam Buchwald

  • Title
    Assistant Coach

Adam Buchwald enters his 12th season with the Pioneers after joining the Lewis & Clark tennis program as an assistant coach in 2012. Both tennis programs have benefited from the mentorship and experience of Buchwald as the men have made eight consecutive Northwest Conference post-season tournament appearances, and the women have made six appearances and won the Northwest Conference (2016) once since his addition. Buchwald has helped develop one NWC Player of the Year and two NWC Rookies of the Year for the Pioneers since 2012 on the women’s team.

Buchwald has a long history in tennis that started in Minnesota and moved to the West Coast. During his collegiate career at Whitman College, he also ran a junior program in Minnesota, taking a group of 12-17-year-olds to tournaments throughout the state.  After college, Buchwald was the assistant coach for the Whitman women’s team while working as a pro at the Walla Walla Country Club and coaching JV tennis at the local high school.

Buchwald dipped back into women’s collegiate tennis in the 1990s for one season with Linfield College, coaching the Wildcats to second place in the Northwest Conference and having the player of the year at #1 singles.

When he is off-court, Buchwald also happens to serve as the Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Lewis & Clark.Â
