Adam Riddle joined the Pioneers in the winter of 2022 as the Pioneers throws coach. He is set to return for his fourth season for the 2025-26 academic year.
The Pioneers' throwers enjoyed another strong season under Riddle in 2024-25. Six throwers qualified for the 2025 Northwest Conference Championship. Senior JT Willis (javelin), who had never thrown before this Spring, and sophomore Lillian Besa (discus) led the Pioneers as they both finished ninth overall. Junior Nia Pile recorded the fifth-best throw in the shot put in women's outdoor program history and sophomore Divinity Singleton and Besa each posted top-15 marks in both the discus and hammer.
Riddle has helped a young group of Pioneers throwers make big strides in his first two seasons. During the 2023-24 season, sophomore Andrew Baum became the first Lewis & Clark men's thrower to earn All-Conference honors since 2010 when he placed third in the discus at the Northwest Conference Championship Meet. Baum added points for the team in the shot put and hammer throw and fellow sophomore Piper McCoy-Harmon placed fifth in the discus to earn points for the Pioneers.
As a collegian, Riddle competed for Concordia University in Portland, Oregon, placing second at the NAIA Outdoor Championships in 2014 and third in 2013 in the hammer throw while finishing fourth in the NAIA Indoor Championships in the weight throw. He finished his career as a three-time All-American in the hammer and weight throw events and also won a conference title in the hammer. Riddle graduated in 2014 with a degree in exercise sports science.
He began his coaching career at fellow Northwest Conference school Pacific Lutheran University. Riddle coached four conference champions while in Tacoma.
After his time at Pacific Lutheran University, he returned to his alma mater as the throws coach and the facility manager of the Throws Center at Concordia. During his time as a coach at Concordia, Riddle coached three national qualifiers (javelin and discus) and one all-American (javelin) as well as 9 conference champions.
