Returning to the coaching staff prior to the 2018-19 season, Marco Pineda is in his seventh season on the Pioneers coaching staff. He previously coached the Pios from 2012-16.
Prior to Lewis & Clark, Pineda coached at Gonzaga for five years as the assistant men's tennis coach where he coached numerous All-West Coast Conference Team student-athletes.
As a three-year letter winner at Gonzaga, Pineda finished with 45 career wins including a 23-14 overall record in 2007. His senior season, Pineda was awarded All-WCC honorable mention accolades, becoming the second Gonzaga player in history to earn the conference award. His 23 wins during his senior campaign set a school record for single-season victories.
In addition to his tennis accolades, he was named to the WCC All-Academic team as well as being named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Scholar Athlete in 2007.
Pineda earned his degree in public relations from Gonzaga in 2007 and Master's Degree in Sports & Athletics Administration from Gonzaga in 2010.
Pineda still competes throughout the Pacific Northwest, including winning the 2012 Men's Open Adult Sectionals in Yakima, Wash. and earning the USTA/PNW Player of the Year in 2013-14.
