Cross Country at Pacific Lutheran

The Pioneer cross country teams competed at the Pacific Lutheran Invitational Saturday morning held on the PLU campus on the Lute Golf Course. Yancey Lawrence and Hannah Palmer were the top finishers for the Pioneers.

In the men's race, the Pioneers finished third as a team behind Western Oregon and Whitworth, finishing ahead of NWC teams Pacific Lutheran and Puget Sound. Yancey Lawrence (senior, Bellingham, Wash.) was the top finisher for the Pioneers, placing sixth in the field of 81 runners with a time of 26:02.67. Karl Dickman (junior, Bend, Ore.) was right on his heels in seventh place with a 26:08.02. Jeff Carman (senior, Elmira, Ore.) was 12th with a 26:36.82.

The women's team also placed third behind Western Oregon and Whitworth. Hannah Palmer was the top finisher for the Pioneers, finishing fourth in the field of 77 athletes with a 22:54.21. Tamma Carleton (senior, Elk, Calif.) was fifth with a 22:58.14. They were the top-two NWC finishers in the race

The Pioneers are back in action next weekend on the home course when they head to McIver State Park in Estacada for the Pioneer Open.
