Tamma Carleton Academic All-District VIII
Cross country runner Tamma Carleton (junior, Elk, Calif.) became the only Pioneer in the 2007-08 season to be named to an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team when she earned first team Cross Country/Track & Field honors. Carleton was one of ten cross country and track & field athletes named to the All-District VIII First Team.
The award is voted on by members of Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) based on a combination of academic and athletic merits. An athlete must be a sophomore or a transfer student in their second year at a given insititution to be considered.
Carleton, who holds a 3.99 cumulative GPA as an Economics major,
competed at the NCAA III Cross Country Championships last fall, her
third trip to the National Championships in her three seasons at
Lewis & Clark. She has also been First Team All-Northwest
Conference and All-West Region three times. This is her second ESPN
the Magazine Academic All-District honor. She also earned first
team honors as a sophomore, the first year she was eligible.
The award makes her a finalist for Academic All-American honors which will be announced at the end of June.
