No. 33 Lewis & Clark claims victory over George Fox

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The No.33 Lewis & Clark Pioneers defeated the George Fox Bruins on Sunday afternoon, 7-2, to improve their conference record to 4-1. With the win, the Pios kept their second-place standing in the Northwest Conference.

The Pioneers only lost one match from the doubles and one match from the singles. In first position for the Pios was Christine Eliazo and Kacey Incerpi. They defeated Kristen Mock and Catrina Kwong, 8-3, and are now 8-1 overall. At the No. 2 spot, Riley Hanks and Chloe Sermet lost to Lydia Pia and Jillian Studer, 8-4. For the third match, Natalie Kelly and Glenna Gee-Taylor won against Laney Search and Sophia Lawrence, 8-5. The pair is undefeated this season when playing together.

For the singles matches, Eliazo was in the No.1 position again, but lost to Kwong, 7-6, 6-4. Incerpi at the No.2 spot is still on a singles undefeated streak after defeating Studer, 6-0, 6-0. In the third match, Sermet won against Lawrence, 6-3, 6-1, and now has a 7-2 record.

Madelyn Landerfelt replaced Kelly at the No.4 spot to defeat Search, 6-2, 6-1. Riley Hanks played in the fifth match against Emily Brink and won 6-2, 6-1. In the sixth and final spot, Gee-Taylor defeated Danielle Brown with scores of 6-1, 6-2.

Lewis & Clark will be playing away the next four matches starting with Redlands on Saturday.
