Plawska upsets No. 1 seed to win ITA Regional singles title

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Lewis & Clark senior Wiktoria Plawksa defeated Ella Riddle, the No. 1 seed from Linfield, in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championship final to claim All-American status and a trip to the National Small College Championships.

Plawska, the No. 4 seed, beat Riddle, 6-2, 6-0, in the tournament final. Her win gives the Lewis & Clark Pioneers back-to-back singles champions at the ITA Regional after Summer Garrison won it last season.

Overall, the Pios had three of the four semifinalists at the event. Plawska defeated freshman teammate Josie Legarza, 6-1, 6-7(1), 6-3, in the semifinals, while Christine Eliazo lost to Riddle, 7-5, 6-0.

Kacey Incerpi made it to the quarterfinals before losing to Riddle, 6-2, 6-2. She also paired with Plawska to make the doubles semifinals where they lost 8-1 to Elsa Harris and Riddle.

Lewis & Clark begins the regular season in February.
