Portland, Ore- The Lewis & Clark women's soccer team fell to the Willamette Bearcats on Sunday afternoon, 3-0, in a Northwest Conference home game. The Pioneers fall to 2-11-2 on the season and 1-9-1 in conference play. The Bearcats improve to 7-6-1 overall and 6-3-1 in the NWC.
Willamette was led offensively by Stephanie Skelly, earning four shots and ultimately two goals. Pagie Lancourt took three shots while Maddy Grainger, Shannon Scott and Krista Lauer each took two. Sarah Desautels and Cat Carragee each took one shot for the Bearcats.
The Bearcats earned their first point in the 40th minute of the first half with a goal by Carragee, assisted by Andi Rowan finishing the half 1-0. Goal number two was scored in the first six minutes of the second half by Skelly. Skelly scored her second shot into a wide open goal with 18 minutes left on the clock finishing the game 3-0.
Sarah Breninger led the Pioneers offensively with four shots, one of which was on goal. Natalie Levy and Andi Glaeser each earned two shots while Emilia Emmetti took one. Pioneer keeper Elise Delgado earned five saves.
The Pioneers are back in action Sunday October 23 when they host Pacific Lutheran at 12 pm. In their last meeting the game ended in a 2-1 loss in double overtime.
