Off runner-up finish, Lewis & Clark gets set for NWC Championship

WOODBURN, Ore. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers will enter next weekend's Northwest Conference Championship off a second-place performance after Annika Clunk and Sofia Vigil held top-10 positions for the Pios during Sunday's final round of the Willamette Spring Thaw.

Clunk, who started in sixth place, maintained her spot with a second-round 83. The freshman finished with the best place of her Pioneers tenure and was tied with Katie Ochoa of Whitworth.

Meanwhile, Vigil fell four spots to eighth despite shaving one stroke off her day-one 88 to total 175 for the tournament.

Janelle Decker of George Fox won individual medalist honors with a 159, one stroke ahead of Whitworth's Maggie Peters. Whitworth won team honors.

Tori Eichten stayed consistent with back-to-back 91s for a 13th place finish. Abbi Rautenberg improved by 11 strokes for a second-day 90, a total of 191 and a 17th place spot.

Lewis & Clark enters the NWC Championship trailing George Fox and Whitman in the NWC championship standings and is one point ahead of Whitworth, which finished ahead of the Pioneers at the NWC Spring Classic last weekend.
