Pamplin Gets A New Floor
The Pamplin Sports Center underwent a major upgrade this summer
with the gym getting a brand new state-of-the-art Uniforce Sports
Floor. The project was completed on-time and on-budget with the new
floor open and ready for use in time for the summer camp
season.
The old Pamplin floor had one main court with two side courts not
on hardwood. The new floor spans the entire width of the room,
creating the opportunity for three hardwood courts for varsity
practices, intramurals, and recreational uses.
The floor came from Connor Hardwood Courts and meets or exceeds
all Athletic Performance requirements according to the
international standard DIN 18032 Part 2, 2001. The floor's finger
jointed matched MFMA Norther Hard Maple, installed over a plywood
sub floor and pad system is designed to reduce the likelihood of
impact injuries and damage to the joints and provide a uniform
playing surface. It is finished with 2 coard Hillyard seal and 2
coats finish.
"I am so excited about the completion of this project," said
Direcotr of Athletics Clark Yeager. "The floor looks absolutely
amazing and is really going to make the events hosted in the
Pamplin Sports Center even better." "We really want to thank all of
the people involved in the project," Yeager added. "From those at
Connor Hardwood Floors to Sharon Hayes the Project Manager at
L&C, and Steve Hightower whose company did the finishing and
painting, for doing such a great job and getting it done on
time."
The first official event to take place on the court is the Nike
Basketball Camp that begins on Saturday, July 21, run by Pioneer
women's basketball head coach Juli Fulks.
