NEWBERG, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark track & field teams completed day one of a rain soaked Northwest Conference Championships hosted by George Fox. The Pioneer women currently sit in sixth place, while the men are in seventh.
Alexi Shean earned All-Conference honors with a third place finish in the high jump. The junior cleared a height of 5-01.25 (1.56m).
Brigitte Russo also earned All-Conference honors with hers coming in the women's hammer throw. With a strong second place finish for the Pioneers, Russo threw a personal record distance of 154-00 (46.94m). The senior also earned the Pioneers a point in the shot put with a distance of 36-05.75 (11.12m).
Deion Mock finished just outside of the top-three in the pole vault with a height of 14-06.25 (4.43m), earning fourth place. Bjorn Hansen also earned the Pios points in the event with a sixth place finish after clearing 13-06.50 (4.13m).
Freshman Blake Slattengren finished the 10000m run in sixth place, while Tyler Sugai earned the Pios a point with an eighth place finish. Slattengren concluded the race in 33:01.45, while Sugai finished in 33:13.64.
Kori Groeveld took sixth place in the women's 10000m run with a time of 40:07.00.
Kodie Artner qualified for the finals round of both the 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles on Saturday. The 110m hurdles are set to start at 12:35 p.m. while the 400m hurdles will start around 1:30 p.m.
Michael Walker will compete in the finals of the 400m dash, after qualifying with a time of 50.62. Walker will run at 12:50 p.m. on Saturday.
Curtis Shirey will take part in the 100m and 200m dash finals, after winning the 100m prelims and taking fifth in the 200m. The 100m dash will start at 1:00 p.m. and the 200m dash will begin at 1:50 p.m.
Jeanie Mullins will run in the finals of the women's 100m dash, just making the cut with a time of 12.93 in prelims. Mullins will run in the finals at 1:05 p.m.
