McMINNVILLE, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark track & field teams headed to the Jenn Boyman Invitational hosted by Linfield College on Saturday afternoon.
The women's 4x100 relay team of Jeanie Mullins, Emilie Newton, Katie Kowal and Alexi Shean finished the event in fifth place with a time of 50.92. The time was the third fastest by a Northwest Conference team with Linfield (50.24) and Willamette (50.37) finishing right in front of the Pios.
Susan Heinselman finished the 1500m run in the top-10 for the Pioneers, taking home seventh place with a time of 4:56.52. Freshmen Jeff Mullins and George Shoemaker both earned top-5 finishes for the men's team in the same event with Mullins taking fourth and Shoemaker fifth. Mullins ended his race in 4:04.30, while Shoemaker was right behind him in 4:04.35.
Newton was the fourth fasted NWC runner in the women's 100m hurdles, finishing the race in 17.08. Kowal earned an eighth place finish in the 400m dash with a time of 1:01.03.
Kodie Artner and Michael Walker both competed in the men's 400m dash with Artner earning sixth place and Walker 10th place. Artner was the second fasted NWC runner in the event with a time of 50.59, while Walker ended the race in 51.78.
Running in her second event of the day, Jeanie Mullins finished the 100m dash in 13.04, which earned her eighth place. Curtis Shirey was the top NWC men's finisher in the 100m dash, concluding the race in 10.99 for second place.
Jeff Mullins, like Shirey, was the top NWC finisher in his event, finishing the men's 800m in 2:00.41.
Rachel Stone ended the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:11.99. In her third event of the day, Kowal took home seventh place in the 200m dash with a time of 27.13. Kelin Doner earned a seventh place finish in the 5000m run with a time of 20:25.82, while Nick Ellis (16:06.08) and Tyler Sugai (16:13.40) earned seventh and eighth place finishes in the men's 5000m.
Angie Epifano finished the 10,000m run in 41:21.53, just ahead of Kori Groenveld who concluded her race in 41:29.91.
Deion Mock and Bjorn Hansen tied for fifth place in the men's pole vault with a height of 13-10.00 (4.22m). The height was the best by any NWC competitor.
Shirey earned a fifth place finish in the men's long jump with a jump of 21-02.75, while Jeanie Mullins finished the women's triple jump in fourth (34-00.00 / 10.36m). In the men's triple jump, Christen Cromer finished in 10th place with a distance of 42-02.00 (12.85m).
Sarah Bucknovitz finished the women's hammer throw with a distance of 126-07 (38.59m), while Shean earned a third place finish in the high jump with a height of 4-10.25 (1.48m).
