Tennis player Amalia Nilsson (freshman, Stockholm, Sweden) added one more post-season honor to her collection this week, being named the ITA West Region Rookie Player of the Year. The award, presented by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, the governing body of collegiate tennis, named Nilsson as the West Region's top first-year player. She was in the running, along with the other three regional winners, for the National Rookie of the Year, an honor that went to Jenelle Arita of DePauw University in the Central Region.

The ITA West Region Rookie Player of the Year follows Nilsson's Northwest Conference Player of the Year award as well as being named the Nowrtwest Conference Tennis Sportswoman of the Year.
